Medical Assistant-Non-Certified-Neurosurgery
About the role
The role involves performing basic nursing skills and serving under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a medical assistant program completion or one year of clinical experience. Certification in Basic Life Support is also required within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
- Prepares for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
- Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.
- Auxiliaries in and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
- Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
- Auxiliaries during patient examinations and procedures.
- Edits patients on follow-up expectations.
- Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
- Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
- Auxiliaries patients with completion of medical documentation.
- Auxiliaries with office administrative tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, performing office-related tasks, and assisting with depositing cash and other closing duties.
Requirements
Physical requirements include exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly. The position requires bending, stooping, reaching, and rotating, standing, and walking for an 8-12 hour shift.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of healthcare education course work.
- One (1) year of healthcare experience.

- Ability to use and care for all equipment including printers, embossers, and computers.
- Effective communication with staff and patients.
- Adaptability to changing environments.
- Organizational and prioritization skills.
