About the role
The Medical Office Assistant performs a variety of clinical, clerical, and administrative functions in a patient-centered, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Triage patients and collect medical information
- Record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, weight)
- Assist providers during procedures
- Perform routine point-of-care testing (cholesterol and blood glucose)
- Obtain insurance authorizations for procedures and EKGs
- Schedule patient appointments
- Fax and scan documents
- Pre-certify services and procedures
- Maintain stock room and physical environment of exam and procedure rooms
- Serve as a floater between clerical and clinical staff as needed
- Apply in-depth knowledge of good clinical practices as set forth by federal regulations
- Work collaboratively within a team to ensure quality patient care
- Multi-task and prioritize work assignments
- Maintain confidentiality in all work performed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of clerical/administrative medical office experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with electronic medical records

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
