About the role

The Medical Assistant shall provide quality patient care in a prompt and professional manner, assist in delivery of patient education, and communicate patient information to and from the physician. This position is responsible for direct, individualized, goal-directed patient care under the supervision of a Physician and may have additional duties assigned within the scope of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality patient care in a professional manner
  • Assist in delivery of patient education
  • Communicate patient information to and from the physician
  • Perform various job tasks as assigned
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as glucometers, PT/INR machines, wheelchairs, and thermometers
  • Conduct tests including urinalysis and EKGs

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years of experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting (e.g., clinical lab, physician's office, Emergency Medical Tech, etc.)
  • Medical training background as an LPN, Lab, Radiology, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or in a Physician Office
  • Active Medical Assistant certification/registration preferred
  • BLS certification required

Work Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing (30%), walking (40%), and occasional sitting (5%) of the workday
  • Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
  • Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive action
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 15 pounds
  • Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation (phone or in person)
  • Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range
  • Vision 20/40 or better (with or without correction)
  • Hearing sensitivity within normal limits
  • Ability to distinguish color

Environment

  • Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
