Medical Assistant/Nephrology - M-Th (8-430) & F (8-2)

General Summary

To assist providers with patient treatment, prepare patients for providers, and perform various clerical duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
• Aid providers with patient care (e.g., assisting with minor procedures/surgeries such as removing sutures, staples, moles, etc.).
• Perform various clerical duties (e.g., answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling patient charts, etc.).
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Prepare exam rooms.
• Prepare patients for providers (e.g., histories, blood pressure, vitals, etc.).
• Sterilize and prepare instruments.
• At the request of the physician, call in prescription refills.
• Order and maintain exam room supplies and instruments.
• Follow up with lab work and/or x-rays.
• Administer injections.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
• Completes all tasks within established time frame.
• Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
• Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
• Credentialed as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA or RMA).
• Medicare Exclusion List.

Education

• Medical Assisting degree or diploma from an accredited school.

Preferred

• Clinical medical assisting experience.
