MEDICAL ASSISTANT/NEPHROLOGY - Contingent

About the Role

Toledo Clinic's Nephrology Department is seeking a contingent Medical Assistant to perform both clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced office environment.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Consistently arrive at work on time and adhere to regular work schedule.
• Assist providers with patient care, including minor procedures/surgeries such as removing sutures, staples, or moles.
• Perform various clerical duties: answering phones, scheduling appointments, and handling patient charts.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare exam rooms for use.
• Prepare patients for providers by taking histories, blood pressure, vitals, etc.
• Sterilize and prepare instruments.
• Call in prescription refills at the request of the physician.
• Order and maintain exam room supplies and instruments.
• Follow up on lab work and/or x-rays.
• Administer injections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Active Medical Assistant credential (RMA/CMA/CCMA) or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
• Medical Assisting degree or diploma from an accredited school.
• Arrive at work in appropriate/professional attire.
• Complete all tasks within established time frames.
• Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate adaptability to expanded roles.
• Clearance on the Medicare Exclusion List.

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical medical assisting experience.
