About the Organization

Kapi'olani Medical Specialists (KMS) is a specialty physician group dedicated to caring for Hawai'i's women and children through excellence in academics, physician training, medical research, and clinical care. The group comprises over 100 specialists, nurse practitioners, and other staff, covering newborn to women's health services at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children. KMS operates exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes, offering highly specialized care options and building support for these services within Hawai'i.

Specialty areas include Neurology, Orthopedics, Genetics, Adolescent Medicine, Otolaryngology, Behavioral Health Services, Hematology/Oncology, Neonatology, Pediatric Intensive Care, Family Medicine, and the full spectrum of Pediatric Specialties. Women's specialists include Breast and General Surgery, Adult Hospitalists, and GYN Oncology. The Nephrology department takes a multidisciplinary approach to managing health conditions such as childhood Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, with specialists in pediatric rheumatology and pediatric nephrology working to prevent potential kidney damage.

About the Role

As a Medical Assistant, you will form part of the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff at KMS, providing caring and thorough health services to patients and their families in the Nephrology department. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities for clients of all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of patient care activities for clients of all ages in the Nephrology department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience.
  • Certification as one of the following:
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
    • Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
    • Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
    • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Registry of Medical Assistants.
    • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).
    • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card.
  • Ability to complete departmental competency assessment by the conclusion of the orientation period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of back-office medical assistant experience in an outpatient clinic, physician’s office, or related experience.

Pay

Pay Range: $28.26 - $29.75 USD per hour.

Schedule

  • Day shift - 8 hours.
