Medical Assistant - Nephrology

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to join our multispecialty medical practice. In this role, you will perform a supportive function in delivering comprehensive, safe, effective, and efficient care to patients.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Ensure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensure the physician is in-network and an authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation.
• Educate and inform patients about diagnostic imaging, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered by the physician.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees them.
• Obtain authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Distribute faxes from the main fax line to appropriate team members.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Two or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.
