Responsibilities
- Assists provider with exams (including patient vitals), procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care under direct supervision of the Provider and within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.
- Administers all forms of medications per policy and Provider direction, adhering to safety protocols.
- Performs blood draws, urine collection (including employer drug screens), splinting, casting, and various physicals (e.g., sports physicals).
- Conducts urgent care-specific duties such as ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
- Notifies the provider on duty promptly of unusual patient occurrences, including medication events, via incident reports.
- Reports patient or employee safety concerns to the Clinic Manager immediately.
- Follows laboratory and clinical accreditation policies and maintains proficiency in EMR/EHR.
- Performs other duties as assigned or described by Company policy.
Additional Laboratory Responsibilities (if applicable)
- Performs moderate-complexity clinical testing (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis) in accordance with the laboratory’s COLA-approved SOP manual.
- Executes and documents daily instrument calibrations, quality control (QC) tracking, and corrective actions for out-of-range values.
- Maintains orderly, verifiable, and audit-ready logs for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities to ensure COLA inspection readiness.
- Participates in mandatory competency assessments (semiannually in the first year, annually thereafter) covering all six CLIA-mandated elements.
- Conducts proficiency testing (PT) using blind samples, adhering to anti-commingling regulations.
- Accession, process, centrifuge, and evaluate sample integrity, reporting data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Recognizes and promptly notifies critical, life-threatening results to the attending healthcare provider.
Front Office Reception Support (if applicable)
- Keeps patients and families informed of wait times and monitors patient flow.
- Processes patients for discharge, including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts.

Requirements
Arizona
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
- OR completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND a National Certification through one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
All Other States
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
- OR completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND a National Certification through one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
- OR completed an UNAPPROVED Medical Assistant training program AND one (1) year of employment as a Medical Assistant post-completion.
- OR verifiable work experience directly supervised by a Provider or Physician Group for a minimum of 2,000 hours or 1 year.
Note: Other MA education or experience may be considered upon review and approval from the Compliance and Regulatory department.
