About the Role

Responsibilities
- Assist providers with exams, including taking patient vitals, procedures, and other direct patient care tasks under provider supervision and within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
- Administer medications per policy and provider direction, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Perform blood draws, urine collection (including employer drug screens), splinting, casting, and various physicals (e.g., sports physicals).
- Provide urgent care-specific procedures such as ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
- Promptly report unusual patient occurrences, including medication events, via incident reports, and notify the Clinic Manager of safety concerns.
- Follow laboratory and clinical accreditation policies, including proficiency in EMR/EHR systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned or outlined by company policy.
Additional Laboratory Responsibilities (if applicable)
- Perform moderate-complexity clinical testing (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis) in strict accordance with the laboratory’s COLA-approved SOP manual.
- Execute and document daily instrument calibrations, quality control (QC) tracking, and corrective actions for out-of-range values before reporting patient results.
- Maintain orderly, verifiable, and audit-ready logs for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities to ensure COLA inspection readiness.
- Participate in mandatory competency assessments (semiannually in the first year, annually thereafter) covering all six CLIA-mandated elements.
- Conduct proficiency testing (PT) using blind samples, adhering to anti-commingling regulations.
- Accession, process, centrifuge, and evaluate sample integrity, reporting data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Recognize and promptly notify providers of critical, life-threatening results.
Front Office Reception Support (if applicable)
- Keep patients and families informed of wait times and monitor patient flow.
- Process patients for discharge, including preparing charges, collecting payments, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts.

Requirements
Arizona
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
- OR completion of an unapproved (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program and a National Certification from one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
All Other States
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
- OR completion of an unapproved (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program and a National Certification from one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
- OR completion of an unapproved Medical Assistant training program and one (1) year of employment as a Medical Assistant post-program.
- OR verifiable work experience directly supervised by a Provider or Physician Group for a minimum of 2,000 hours or one year.
Other MA education or experience may be considered upon review and approval from the Compliance and Regulatory department.
