About the Role

We are recruiting for an Urgent Care Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team in one of our state-of-the-art health centers. Medical Assistants at United Health Centers play a vital role in providing prompt medical support, promoting smooth patient flow, and delivering excellent patient care. You will work closely with the Nursing Supervisor and clinic management team to ensure patients and families receive the care they need. This position requires availability to work Monday-Friday from 12PM-9PM, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt medical support and promote a smooth patient flow.
  • Collect and record data accurately; maintain order of exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide basic education and information to patients, ensuring their questions are answered and anxieties alleviated.
  • Interface with community-oriented activities and staff to achieve the organizational mission of providing healthcare access for all.
  • Consistently and openly communicate with supervisors and all staff.
  • Work flexible or extended hours where necessary.
  • Participate in health center in-services and meetings, respecting others’ ideas.
  • Abide by rules of confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Completed training program in Medical Assisting from an accredited college.
  • Possess a valid CPR certificate.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player.
  • Customer-service oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with modern office practices and procedures, including email.
  • Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques.
  • Positive professional insight, flexibility, and dependability.
  • Demonstrated good problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Effective leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasks.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those served in-person, and speak clearly to communicate information.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, and turn.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position starts at $22.00 an hour, dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
