Medical Assistant/MA - Primary Care Clinic

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team in Rogers, MN. This is a 0.7 FTE (56 hours per two-week pay period) benefits-eligible position with clinic hours Monday–Thursday 7:00 AM–6:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM. No weekends. Eligible for up to a $2,000 new hire sign-on bonus.

About the role

As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care by performing a variety of high-level functions to assist the healthcare team and patients. Responsibilities include gathering and documenting patient information, adhering to policies and procedures, promoting teamwork, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and workflow.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care as delegated by the physician, authorized practitioner, or RN to assigned patients, following the patient’s plan of care.
• Prioritizes work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient/family preferences, provider schedule, and collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Performs high- and low-risk technical procedures, including medication administration, assistance with CPR, procedures, and lab draws.
• Recognizes and adapts approaches based on age or cultural differences.
• Implements assigned aspects of the patient teaching plan and documents care in the medical record.
• Communicates compliance, concerns, and continuity of care to the delegating physician, authorized practitioner, or RN.
• Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
• Responds appropriately to emergent situations and functions as a care team assistant as needed.
• Communicates effectively with team members, ensuring clear, concise, accurate, and timely verbal and written information.
• Respects and ensures confidentiality of patient, staff, and organizational information.
• Adjusts care approaches to reflect the developmental level of the population served.
• Partners with patients and caregivers in care and decision-making, communicating respectfully and ensuring a safe environment.
• Individualizes the plan of care to meet patient needs and modifies clinical interventions based on the population served.
• Provides patient education based on assessed learning needs.
• Continuously improves work processes, environment, and patient experience by identifying workflow opportunities, participating in initiatives, and engaging in change.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or graduate of an LPN program.
• A clinical externship is required for non-certified Medical Assistant applicants with less than six months of experience.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or MTN).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ambulatory care experience.
• AAMA certification.

Pay

Compensation is based on skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Pay equity is prioritized, and hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical. Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000.
