About the role

East Carolina Pain Consultants (ECPC), a division of East Carolina Anesthesia Associates (ECAA), is North Carolina's leading pain practice for the treatment and management of chronic and acute pain. Our providers use a multi-modal approach to pain, treating it at the source. We partner with specialties including physical therapy, chiropractic, behavioral health, mental health, and psychiatric services. Our clinics feature state-of-the-art fluoroscopy suites for safe, onsite procedures. Our opioid-reduction strategy and focus on high-quality outcomes make ECPC a purpose-driven workplace.

The Certified Medical Assistant is a vital role in our Goldsboro office, performing both clinical and administrative tasks to support clinicians in the pain clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and take vitals.
  • Prepare and clean up procedure rooms.
  • Assist physicians with a wide variety of procedures, including use of the C-arm.
  • Document patient notes in the electronic medical records (EMR) system (eClinicalWorks).
  • Obtain prior authorizations for procedures.
  • Fax notes to other practices.
  • Assist with front desk processes when needed.
  • Handle difficult patient situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Must be a certified or registered medical assistant (CMA/RMA).
  • Two years’ medical assisting experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems.

  • Strong time management, follow-through, and organizational skills.

Work Environment

  • Office environment with frequent contact with physicians, leadership, and medical office staff.
  • Work may be stressful and involve disruptive interactions.
  • Requires long periods of standing and walking.
  • Physical activity can be irregular and fast-paced.
  • Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate medical and office equipment.
  • Normal range of hearing and eyesight required for recording and communicating information.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
