About the Role

We are recruiting Medical Assistants (MA) to join our team in one of our state-of-the-art health centers. Our Medical Assistants go above and beyond, taking pride in listening to patients and providing excellent care. You will work closely with the Nursing Supervisor and clinic management team to ensure smooth patient flow, accurate data collection, and a well-maintained clinical environment. You will also provide basic education to patients, address their questions and anxieties, and engage in community-oriented activities.

This role supports the organizational mission of providing healthcare access to all community members, ensuring patients and families receive the care they need when they need it.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt medical support and promote smooth patient flow.
  • Collect and record patient data accurately.
  • Maintain order of exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide basic education and information to patients, addressing their questions and concerns.
  • Interface with community-oriented activities and staff.
  • Communicate openly and consistently with supervisors and all staff.
  • Work flexible or extended hours as necessary.
  • Participate in health center in-services and meetings, respecting others’ ideas.
  • Abide by rules of confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Completed training program in Medical Assisting from an accredited college.
  • Valid CPR certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).

Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player.
  • Customer-service oriented.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques.
  • Positive professional insight.
  • Flexibility and dependability.
  • Demonstrated good problem-solving skills; sound judgment.
  • Effective leadership/supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including email.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasks.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
  • Must be able to hear staff on the phone and in-person, and speak clearly to communicate with patients and staff.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical/administrative documents.
  • Must have high manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist/turn.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position starts at $22 per hour, dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
