We use advanced technology to enhance patient care across our facilities, including two surgical centers (Panhandle Surgical Hospital and Quail Creek Surgical Hospital), one physical therapy center (Quail Creek Physical Therapy), and a state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging center (Advanced Imaging Center of Amarillo).

Responsibilities

  • Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Support patient visits by:
    • Greeting patients and escorting them to exam rooms.
    • Taking patients’ vital signs and gathering other applicable medical information to support the reason for their visit and recommended treatment.
  • Sterilize and prepare medical instruments.
  • Ensure patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients.
  • Provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.
  • Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations.
  • Pass along patient information for prescription, x-ray, or lab requisitions to necessary parties, including calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
  • Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care.
  • Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
