Medical Assistant/LPN Urgent Care

About the Role

This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities, including assisting providers according to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals, documenting in EMR
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
• Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing, and treatment of patients
• Performs room turnover in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
• Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary
• Assists with patient education
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
• Graduate of clinical laboratory program and/or ability to display and complete job competencies
• Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (LPNs/MAs will have 1 year to become certified to maintain employment)
• Current CPR certification

• Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work autonomously and as a team
• Capable of making independent decisions with good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence

Preferred Qualifications

• EMR experience
