Responsibilities

  • Provides immunizations to patients, takes vitals, rooms on patients, clinical/clerical duties
  • Takes patient information to file and update patient records, ensures all forms and consents are completed by patients
  • Aids physicians and nursing personnel with various patient care activities
  • Delivers quality customer service and maintains established quality control standards
  • Checks out patients, assists with referral processing, and arranges laboratory services
  • Prepares patients for examinations, takes vitals, and records patients' health histories
  • Sets up EKG machines and other ancillary tests, administers injections and medications, and performs routine specimen collection and tests
  • Prepares equipment and examination rooms, and cleans instruments
  • Affords assistance to physicians with medical treatments, procedures, and exams
  • Manages inventory of medical supplies and equips exam rooms with appropriate supplies
  • Manages messages, prior authorizations, patient calls

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification is required (Credentialing body examination (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or RMA); Medical Assistant level-1 applicants with >2yrs demonstrated medical assistant experience will be considered enlue of certification (yet will be limited in career ladder opportunity)
  • Current Basic Life Support Certifications (BLS) via AHAS
  • Satisfactory complete applicable competency assessments/skill checklist within 90 days of hire/transfer into MA job.
  • If hired into the Southeast Medical Group Career Ladder, will be required to complete training and assessment for level hired within 90 days.
  • Ability to always communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Firm grasp on medical terminology
  • Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
  • Firm grasp on patient care and examination procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Exhibit compassion and professionalism
  • Be organized and attentive to detail
  • Work quickly and efficiently to assure patient comfort and satisfaction
  • Be computer literate with entry level working knowledge of Microsoft Suites; Outlook, Word
  • Demonstrate ability to organize, coordinate, prioritize, and facilitate tasks
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Be able to report to work as scheduled without delay
