Medical Assistant III: Hoag Medical Group, Costa Mesa

Responsibilities

  • Schedule patients, including follow-up office visits, imaging, and lab work.
  • Prepare appropriate chart elements.
  • Check vital signs and room patients.
  • Assist with medical procedures.
  • Handle pre-authorization processes and act as a liaison between providers and patients.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure proper records are received and appropriate testing is completed prior to appointments or surgeries.
  • Provide updates to staff and patients on timing and status of tasks impacting patient health, testing, and treatment options.
  • Ensure even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.
  • May be required to work at different locations or travel to multiple sites during the workweek.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical back-office experience.
  • Ability to anticipate provider needs and demonstrate critical thinking skills from experience.
  • HMG Primary Care: 8 years' experience in Primary Care.
  • HMG Specialty Care: 4 years' experience in the same specialty area.

Qualifications

  • Current BLS (AHA) Certification (required).
  • Medical Assistant Certification (preferred).
  • CPR certification (preferred).
  • Experience in Diabetes, Oncology, Gastro, or Digestive Specialty Clinics (preferred).
  • Current Limited Phlebotomy Certification (preferred).
