Job Summary

The MA III at CoxHealth South is responsible for performing both administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of a supervisor or provider. Duties may include answering phones, scheduling appointments, data entry, measuring and recording vital signs, collecting demographic or medical information, preparing patients for examination, cleaning rooms and equipment, and stocking supplies. This position also involves the administration of medications.

Responsibilities

  • Answering phones and scheduling appointments
  • Data entry in medical records
  • Making measurements and recording vital signs
  • Collecting and reviewing patient medical information
  • Preparing patients for examinations
  • Cleaning rooms and equipment
  • Stocking supplies
  • Administering medications

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Required effective 9/1/20: Graduated from a formal MA training program that includes pharmacology, anatomy/physiology, the basics of medication administration, and a clinical externship
  • No prior experience required, but preferred are previous experience in direct contact with people and in health care settings, particularly ambulatory clinics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Proficient computer skills

Qualifications

  • Required: Certification or registration from a CoxHealth approved certification program: CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, NRCMA/NAHP, NCMA/NCCT, RMA/AAMP

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Carry out delegated tasks under supervision of a provider
  • Proficient Computer skills
