Medical Assistant III

Provides high-quality, compassionate clinical and administrative support to physicians, hospitalists, and other healthcare professionals in both outpatient and hospital settings. Ensures efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and exceptional patient care through coordination, education, and hands-on service delivery while adhering to established clinical guidelines, provider supervision standards, and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients in the exam room, obtaining and documenting information relevant to patient care following standard workflows and questionnaires.
• Verifies patient information, reviews and updates medical history, and takes vital signs based on appointment types.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients, including stocking and cleaning.
• Assists provider by preparing patients for physical examinations and by assisting with procedures.
• Follows telephone screening guidelines for answering the phone; identifies patient's health problem or concern and directs calls.
• Schedules patient appointments and referrals, documenting the reason for the appointment clearly.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization.
• Uses software following established protocols for documentation, responding to requests, and initiating appropriate tests and orders.
• Maintains HIPAA-compliant computer access, using only secure means of handling and forwarding PHI (e.g., no emails, texts, or phone messages).
• Maintains clinical proficiency in practice-specific competencies.
• Demonstrates excellent service to internal team members and patients.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Graduated from an accredited program and completed an externship.
• Current CMA / RMA certification.
• 1 – 4 years of experience in a clinical setting or patient environment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Physical Demands

• Stand, walk, and maneuver in small areas; occasionally sit, bend, or kneel.
• Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Repetitive motion involving substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Close visual acuity for activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. independently, not to exceed 50 lbs. without help.

Pay

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $19.80 to $29.70 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.
