Medical Assistant II - UI Health Care Sleep Clinic 80-100%

Job Responsibilities

Facilitates the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families and staff.

Aid in the clinic with physical examinations of patients and related treatments, including but not limited to: patient history, medication records, allergies and immunizations.

Manage internal and external medical records to ensure accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.

Administer routine oral, rectal or injectable medications not requiring a high level of skill or nursing judgment.

Perform routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood work, do electrocardiograms and x-ray work as needed.

Identify vaccination needs for specific patient populations.

Perform related clerical tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments and providing information to other departments.

Assist in obtaining insurance prior authorizations.

Requirements

• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, or completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)
• Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication
• Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Previous work experience utilizing customer service skills
• Minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Experience with durable medical equipment

Qualifications

Schedule

32-40 hours/week will be accomplished from Monday – Friday 0800 - 1700, with a one-hour lunch. No evenings or weekends
