Medical Assistant II-Primary Care Eagle Highlands

About the Role

Part-time position (0.6 FTE) with a varied schedule of mixed AM and PM shifts based on clinic needs. No weekends, holidays, or travel required.

Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, this role performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction, ensuring completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, smooth patient flow, and accurate execution of medical orders and referrals. Additional responsibilities include general lab work, patient instruction, EMR maintenance, front office functions, and precepting current MA team members or MA externs as requested by leadership.

Approximately 70% of the role involves patient rooming and 30% administrative work. Clinic pace varies based on provider schedules. Career growth opportunities are available through the Medical Assistant career ladder program.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients
• Obtaining vital signs
• Administering vaccines
• Completing paperwork and documentation
• Supporting daily clinic operations
• Performing general lab work
• Instructing patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs
• Ensuring medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner
• Performing registration and scheduling activities
• Maintaining EMR files and performing general front office functions
• Precepting current MA team members or MA externs as requested by leadership

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience
• Completion of a hands-on clinical externship
• Primary Care experience preferred but not required
• MA I candidates will be considered if they meet the 2-year experience requirement
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required
• Current certification in medical assisting required from one of the following:
  • America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Health Career Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
• Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
• TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
• Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
• Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care, and Skills Competency checklists
• Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills
