Medical Assistant II - Pediatrics Pulmonology (TMC)

About the Role

Join our Pediatrics Pulmonary team as a Medical Assistant and play an essential role in delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care. Working alongside a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will support patients through advanced diagnostic evaluations and individualized treatment plans while contributing to a practice recognized for clinical excellence and outcomes benchmarked against some of the nation's leading healthcare institutions.

Responsibilities

• Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Effectively participates in planning and preparing for patient visits ensuring appropriate schedules, test results, and clinic-specific requirements are available.
• Rooms patients consistent with clinic needs while determining and documenting chief complaint, reason for visit, vital signs, medication list, allergies, smoking history, and other required information.
• Keeps patients informed of delays and progress of clinical appointments.
• Performs appropriate hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, equipment cleaning/reprocessing, and other requested procedures (as required and competency validated).
• Prepares and stocks rooms (daily/weekly) and clinic supplies in advance of clinic visits, as well as cleaning rooms appropriately between patients.
• Prepares for and assists with routine and specialty procedures.
• Schedules patients for follow-up appointments or referrals and performs routine clerical duties for the team and staff, including photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
• Performs telephone messaging and in-person screening with appropriate follow-up.
• Responds to emergency situations.
• Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program or one (1) year of experience (in addition to the one year of experience required to meet the experience requirement) and certification may be substituted for the Medical Assistant training program.
• One year of related experience.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
