About the role
Nemours Children's Health is an internationally recognized pediatric health system serving more than 1.7 million patient encounters each year. We deliver care across six states through two freestanding children’s hospitals — Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware and Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida — along with a network of more than 80 primary, urgent, and specialty care practices and more than 40 hospital partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Carefully coordinate patient flow by assisting in clinical data collection and review for patient intake, ensuring the appropriate information is available to the provider, and entering pertinent history in the medical record.
- Perform and assist with clinical procedures in accordance with divisional/department responsibilities as directed by the provider and per protocol.
- Mentor and train new Medical Assistants.
- Involvement in quality improvement initiatives and advanced patient care.
- Serves as a coach, preceptor, and mentor to new medical assistant associates.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program or MA certification required (see below).
- Acceptable certifications are Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) and Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), National Healthcare Association (NHA).
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant I: Basic clinical and administrative skills.
- Medical Assistant II: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Medical Assistant III: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
