This mid-level clinical role is for individuals with demonstrated core competencies in patient care and clinical support, including independent clinical duties, broad EMR documentation responsibilities, and the ability to support complex workflows while ensuring an excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, adhere to rooming guidelines, obtain vitals, accurately document in the EMR, and perform basic tests/procedures, medications, and vaccines
• Utilize all standard and specialized equipment such as spirometry, nebulizers, and audiometry
• Administer pediatric vaccines with appropriate knowledge
• Document patient information in the EMR accurately
• Adhere to and teach established policies and procedures including infection control, HIPAA, and safety protocols
• Support other providers, departments, and mentor staff as needed
• Review patient schedules, perform encounter preparation, and escalate appropriately within scope
• Support providers in Value Based Care initiatives
• Manage clinical inbox for self and for provider
• Cross-train to work in other departments, roles, and locations
• Cover Nurse/MA Visits Schedule and perform ancillary procedures
• Serve as POD/Station lead for compliance and inventory
• Participate in assigned clinical related projects
• Manage prescription refills per protocol and provide patient instructions
• Maintain advanced knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Serve as a preceptor for onboarding and training of new MAs
• Support care coordination efforts including referrals and prior authorizations
• Identify clinical workflow improvements and share recommendations with leadership
• Support EMR documentation, including chart preparation and accurate note entry
• Relay provider instructions to patients and follow up as directed
• Communicate with Care Team to maintain efficient clinic flow across all functions

Minimum qualifications

• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program
• Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
• Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS certification for healthcare providers with hands-on component preferred or within 60 days of hire
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare setting is required
• Documented proficiency in additional skills (i.e., Phlebotomy, Quality Metrics/VBC, and/or Precepting) preferred
• Athena EMR experience preferred
