Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (Level 1 or 2) – join a supportive, team-based primary-care practice.

About the role

As our new Medical Assistant, you will work closely with primary-care physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a positive, collaborative environment. The position offers competitive compensation, monthly bonus opportunities, and a clear career-ladder program with three levels plus a lead role (promotions are self-paced and offered twice yearly).

Responsibilities

  • Provide immunizations, take vital signs, and room patients
  • Prepare patients for physician visits, perform tests, and file appropriate documents
  • Answer and direct phone calls, update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed
  • Deliver quality customer service and maintain established quality-control standards
  • Check out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services
  • Record patients’ health history, set up EKG machines, administer injections and medications, and perform routine specimen collection and tests
  • Prepare and clean examination rooms and instruments; manage inventory of medical supplies
  • Assist physicians with treatments, procedures, and exams
  • Handle messages, prior authorizations, and patient calls
  • Attend required meetings, training in-services, and participate in committees

Requirements & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or RMA) required for full career-ladder participation; MA Level-1 or II applicants with >2 years of demonstrated experience will be considered in lieu of certification (career-ladder advancement may be limited)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via AHA
  • Satisfactory completion of applicable competency assessments/skill checklist within 90 days of hire
  • If hired into the Southeast Medical Group Career Ladder, must complete training and assessment for the hired level within 90 days
  • Clear, courteous, and professional communication with patients and external parties
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient-care procedures, and administrative processes
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit compassion and professionalism
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work quickly and efficiently
  • Computer literate with entry-level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, prioritize, and facilitate multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Additional responsibilities for MA-2

  • Perform all MA-1 duties
  • Complete annual Career Ladder online requirements and skills assessments
  • Assist in training and evaluating new hires
  • Support inventory management processes
  • Assist other MAs and providers as needed
  • Maintain logs and required checks (refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold-sterilization fluid changes, etc.)
  • Review charts, lab results, and encounter forms for completeness and follow-up
  • Assist with daily and monthly quality-assurance reviews, including emergency-kit checks

Key physical and mental requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 50 pounds of force
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Fine motor skills to operate office equipment and machinery
  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and in writing
  • Logical reasoning for simple and complex problem-solving
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations as required

Pay
