Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (Level 1 or 2) – join a supportive, collaborative primary-care team.
About the role
Work closely with primary-care physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. Assist with scheduling, vitals, exam preparation, and a variety of clinical and clerical duties in a positive, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide immunizations, take vitals, and room patients
- Prepare patients for physician visits, perform tests, and file appropriate documents
- Answer and direct phone calls; obtain and update patient records; ensure forms and consents are completed
- Deliver quality customer service and maintain established quality-control standards
- Check out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services
- Record health history, set up EKG machines, administer injections/medications, and perform routine specimen collection and tests
- Prepare equipment and examination rooms; clean instruments
- Assist physicians with treatments, procedures, and exams
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms
- Handle messages, prior authorizations, and patient calls
- Attend required meetings, training in-services, and participate in committees
Medical Assistant Level-2 additional responsibilities
- Perform all MA-1 responsibilities
- Complete annual Career Ladder online requirements and skills assessment
- Assist in training and evaluation of new hires
- Support inventory management process
- Assist other MAs and providers as needed
- Maintain logs and required checks (refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold-sterilization fluid change, etc.)
- Review charts, lab test results, and encounter forms for completeness and follow-up
- Assist with daily and monthly quality assurance reviews, including emergency kit check-off
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or RMA) required for Level-1; Level-2 applicants with >2 years of demonstrated experience will be considered in lieu of certification (with limited career-ladder opportunity)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via AHA
- Satisfactory completion of applicable competency assessments/skill checklist within 90 days of hire/transfer
- If hired into the Career Ladder, complete training and assessment for the hired level within 90 days
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and external parties in a courteous, professional manner
- Knowledge of medical terminology, practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
- Understanding of patient care and examination procedures
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Exhibit compassion, professionalism, organization, and attention to detail
- Work quickly and efficiently to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction
- Fluent in verbal and written English
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)
- Ability to organize, coordinate, prioritize, and facilitate multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Reliable attendance without delay
Key physical and mental requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 50 pounds of force

- Fine motor skills to operate office equipment and machinery
