Certified/Registered Medical Assistant position in a supportive, team-oriented primary-care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immunizations, take vitals, and room patients
  • Prepare patients for physician visits, perform tests, and file appropriate documents
  • Answer and direct phone calls; obtain and update patient records; ensure forms and consents are completed
  • Perform a variety of patient-care activities to assist physicians and nursing personnel
  • Deliver quality customer service and maintain established quality-control standards
  • Check out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services
  • Record health history, set up EKG machines, administer injections and medications, and collect routine specimens
  • Prepare equipment and examination rooms; clean instruments
  • Assist physicians with treatments, procedures, and exams
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms
  • Handle messages, prior authorizations, and patient calls
  • Maintain logs and required checks (refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold-sterilization fluid, etc.)
  • Review charts, lab results, and encounter forms for completeness and follow-up
  • Assist with daily and monthly quality-assurance reviews, including emergency-kit checks
  • For MA-2 level: complete annual career-ladder online requirements and skills assessments; assist in training and evaluating new hires; support other MAs and providers as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or RMA) required; MA level-1 or II applicants with >2 years of demonstrated experience will be considered in lieu of certification (career-ladder advancement may be limited)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via AHA
  • Satisfactory completion of applicable competency assessments/skill checklist within 90 days of hire
  • If hired into the career ladder, must complete training and assessment for the hired level within 90 days

  • Computer literate with entry-level Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word) skills
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, prioritize, and facilitate multiple ongoing tasks

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Participation in required meetings, training, and committees
  • Positive attitude and professional appearance

Key Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 50 pounds of force
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Fine motor skills to operate office equipment and machinery
  • Ability to receive and comprehend verbal and written instructions
  • Logical reasoning for simple and complex problem-solving
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations as needed
