Medical Assistant II

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED Certificate is preferred.
• Completion of a secondary or postsecondary Medical Assistant education program from a public school authorized by the Department of Education, or an approved Medical Assistant program at a postsecondary institution accredited or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education.
• Must have completed at least 3 full years of paid experience, and meet the following training criteria:
• For Family Medicine positions: Two or more certification training(s) completed in the last three years for: State approved audiometric, vision and BMI training by CHDP. EYEPAC’s for performing retinal screening. Complete the online EZIZ vaccine trainings for the Vaccine for Children (VFC)/ Vaccine for Adults (VFA).
• For Women's Health positions: Two or more certification training(s) completed in the last three years for: Certified as a Lactation Educator in Pediatrics or Women’s Health. Certified as a Family Planning Health Worker by Essential Access Health. Trained as Permanent Contraception Counselor. Counselor in Pregnancy Options Counseling. Complete the online EZIZ vaccine trainings for the Vaccine for Children (VFC)/ Vaccine for Adults (VFA).

Skills

• Maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR Policy.

• Write and print legibly.

• Maintain or exceed Medical Assistant competency levels as established by corporate standards for clinical practice.
• Demonstrate through written and oral testing, the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
• Fluency in English (speaks, read and write).
• Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translates, read and write) and must complete the mandatory Medical Interpretation course offered at NEVHC.
• Able to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and patient/client information.
• Able to utilize electronic medical records effectively to intake and document patient information and schedule appointments.
• Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).
