About the role
Medical Assistant (MA) II to work within the credentialed scope of practice. Supports and functions under the direction of the care team with various office and clinical duties to keep the healthcare practice running efficiently. Provides front office support duties including exceptional patient care, documentation, vaccine and medication administration, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patient and equipment for exams/procedures
- Maintains exam rooms and clinical area
- Returns phone messages to patients, pharmacies, etc.
- Collects and prepares lab specimens/lab requisitions accurately
- Schedules and obtains authorizations for referrals and/or procedures
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Performs patient intake at office visits
- Greeting and welcoming patients, providing excellent customer service both in-person and over the phone
- Collects co-payments, schedules appointments, updates missing patient demographics
- Obtains referrals and pre-certifications
- Other clerical duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One-year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant and current certificate/registration or less than one-year experience with an associate’s degree in medical assisting with current certification/registration
- BLS required
- Must have and maintain current credentialing with one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA-CMA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT-RMA)
- National Center for Competency Training (NCCT-NCMA)
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA-CCMA)
- National Healthcare Workers Association (NHCWA)
- American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
- National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)
- National Certification Medical Association-Registered Clinical Medical Assistant Specialist (NCMA-RCMA)
- Successful completion of approved Medical Group competency assessment within 8 weeks of hire
