About the role
The Medical Assistant II (MA II) at AllerVie Health is an experienced clinical team member responsible for supporting both clinical and front desk operations in a fast-paced allergy, asthma, and immunotherapy practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently perform all Medical Assistant I (MAI) duties with accuracy and efficiency
- Obtain and record patient vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation
- Absorb and document patient data in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, including restocking supplies and cleaning between patients
- Support patient flow by communicating visit expectations and ensuring timely transitions
- Hold HIPAA regulations and infection control standards at all times
- Mentor and assist in training new or junior clinical staff
- Serve as a liaison between front and back-office teams to support and improve overall clinic workflows
- Address routine patient inquiries and issues professionally and promptly
- Handle front desk responsibilities as needed, including:
- patient check-in and check-out
- appointment scheduling
- insurance verification
- patient communication via phone, portal, or in person
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of Medical Assistant experience
- Proficiency in allergy specific clinical workflows (e.g. skin testing, spirometry, immunotherapy)
- Working knowledge of front desk operations, including scheduling and insurance processes
- Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in EMR documentation
- Ability to mentor newer staff members while modeling professionalism and teamwork
- Completion of an accredited Medial Assistant program preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and communicate effectively, including speaking and hearing
- Regular use of hands and arms to write, type, and operate office equipment
- Occasional physical movement, including reaching, bending, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sensing odors
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and occasional overhead reaching
- Ability to lift and carry moderate weights (up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds regularly) while maintaining visual focus and awareness
