Responsibilities
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, such as checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting with patient care activities, charting, and phone triage.
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities, including sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/X-ray reports, completing forms/requisitions, scheduling appointments, and managing patient charts.
- Fulfills organizational responsibilities, such as respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and sharing issues with supervisors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or college course in medical assisting.
- Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of an externship completed in a medical office. Experience in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.
- Requirements: Intermediate experience (4+ years) and/or taking on additional duties to assist the office. Strong and consistent performer. Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems. Skills in performing medical assistance tasks, written and verbal communications, understanding patient education needs, learning and retaining patient care practices, projecting a professional image, planning, prioritizing, and completing tasks, multi-tasking, and demonstrating compassion.
