Primary Responsibilities
- Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize patient appointment availability
- Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures
- Prepares patient for examination; Measures vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height
- Aids clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department. Advises patients of preparation or pre-visit testing required for exams specific to the department
- Ensures all medical records are updated with patient information, including recent testing and consultations, including confirming demographic information, medications, allergies and chief medical complaints, and ensures the EMR patient data is accurate and up to date
- Keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information
- Orders and performs point of care testing on patients; classified as waived testing (e.g., strep, urine, hcg and glucose testing)
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
- Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- Understands the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
- Computer experience with the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs. Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in medical assisting or graduate of medical assistant certification program
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty
Pay and Benefits
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $24.23 per hour based on full-time employment.
