Medical Assistant I: San Clemente Hoag Urgent Care
This position is part-time, 3 days a week, with weekend flexibility required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a highly professional environment and ensure a collaborative relationship with patients and physicians.
- Assist with non-clinical tasks to ensure smooth patient access and flow, including pre-authorization processes and acting as a liaison between providers and patients.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure all proper records are received and appropriate testing is completed prior to appointments or surgery dates.
- Provide updates to staff and patients on timing and status for tasks that could impact the patient’s health, testing, and treatment options.
- Ensure even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.
- Perform tasks including but not limited to:
- Scheduling patients (follow-up office visits, imaging, and lab work)
- Preparation of appropriate chart elements
- Checking vital signs
- Rooming patients
- Assisting with procedures
- May be required to work at different locations or travel to multiple sites throughout the workweek.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent GED.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program OR one year of previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.
- Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Current BLS (AHA) Certification.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Minimum one (1) year of previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.
- Working knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Bilingual or multilingual candidates.
- Medical Assistant Certification.
- CPR certification.
- Current Limited Phlebotomy Certification.
