Medical Assistant I - Pediatrics

About the role

The position is for a Medical Assistant specializing in Pediatrics at CLS Health PLLC in Katy, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart
• Aid the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Edits and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Bilingual preferred
• Must be willing to travel to other CLS Health locations
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
