About the role
The Medical Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support to patients under the supervision of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, record vital signs, perform phlebotomy, and administer medications as directed.
- Collect data for patient assessments and discharge planning under nurse supervision.
- Process and submit laboratory specimens following policies.
- Communicate patient information to Providers and Nurses accurately.
- Document care promptly within the electronic medical record system.
- Manage point-of-service tasks like scheduling, visit prep, co-pay collection, and patient tracking.
- Perform department-specific clinical duties such as POCT, screenings, and procedures.
- Handle routine office tasks including faxing, copying, and filing.
- Maintain and prepare examination rooms and foster positive patient relationships.
- Follow safety policies to ensure a secure environment for all.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- Medical Assistant certification (preferred).
Skills
- Experience in phlebotomy (preferred).
- Knowledge of medical terminology (required).
- Healthcare environment experience (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (preferred).
- No prior experience or supervisory experience required.
