About the role
The Medical Assistant role provides clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Preparing patients for exams
- Recording vital signs
- Performing phlebotomy
- Administering medications per policies
- Collecting data for patient assessments
- Processing laboratory specimens
- Communicating findings to healthcare team
- Documenting care accurately within the EPIC system
- Scheduling appointments
- Preparing visit rooms
- Collecting co-payments
- Performing clinical tests (e.g., POCT, screenings)
- Managing routine office tasks like faxing and filing
- Developing positive patient relationships
- Adhering to safety protocols
- Supporting department-specific procedures
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program
- BLS certification required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in healthcare settings preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (EPIC) experience preferred
- Experience in phlebotomy is a plus
- No prior experience required
- No supervision responsibilities
