About the role
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for exams, records vital signs, performs phlebotomy, and administers medications per policy.
- Collects data for patient assessment, including discharge planning, under licensed Nurse guidance.
- Handles laboratory specimen collection, processing, and submission.
- Communicates patient findings to Providers and Nurses, utilizing proper documentation methods.
- Documents care accurately within the EPIC system.
- Performs front‑office tasks such as scheduling, co‑payment collection, and patient tracking.
- Executes department‑specific clinical duties like Point‑of‑Care Testing (POCT) and screenings.
- Completes routine office tasks including faxing, copying, and filing.
- Maintains exam rooms by cleaning and stocking supplies.
- Fosters positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Adheres to safety policies to ensure a secure environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in phlebotomy and healthcare environment preferred.
- Proficient in medical terminology and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic Program required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- No prior experience or supervision required.
