Medical Assistant I

About the role

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for exams, records vital signs, performs phlebotomy, and administers medications per policy.
• Collects data for patient assessment, including discharge planning, under licensed Nurse guidance.
• Handles laboratory specimen collection, processing, and submission.
• Communicates patient findings to Providers and Nurses, utilizing proper documentation methods.
• Documents care accurately within the EPIC system.
• Performs front‑office tasks such as scheduling, co‑payment collection, and patient tracking.
• Executes department‑specific clinical duties like Point‑of‑Care Testing (POCT) and screenings.
• Completes routine office tasks including faxing, copying, and filing.
• Maintains exam rooms by cleaning and stocking supplies.
• Fosters positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Adheres to safety policies to ensure a secure environment.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience in phlebotomy and healthcare environment preferred.
• Proficient in medical terminology and Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) is preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic Program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• No prior experience or supervision required.
