About the role
The Medical Assistant role provides clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Preparing patients for exams
- Recording vital signs
- Performing phlebotomy
- Administering medications
- Collecting data for patient assessments
- Handling laboratory specimen processing
- Communicating findings to healthcare professionals
- Maintaining accurate documentation within the EPIC system
- Appointment scheduling
- Visit preparation
- Co-payment collection
- Patient tracking
- Department-specific clinical tasks such as POCT and screenings
- General office tasks like faxing and filing
- Room preparation and maintenance
- Developing positive patient relationships
- Following safety protocols
- Supporting team collaboration
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant or related program
- BLS certification required
Preferred skills
- Phlebotomy experience
- Healthcare environment familiarity
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records
Experience is not mandatory, but relevant certifications and training are essential.
