Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs/assists in numerous procedures including vital signs (BP, HR, RR, T, HT, & WT), EKG, BMI, vision tests, specimen collections, and venipucture when necessary.
- Provides/assists appropriate medical triage of patients.
- Stocks examination rooms with supplies daily and as needed.
- Aids providers with procedures and routine examinations in the examination rooms.
- Records pertinent medical information in the medical records.
- Aids nurses in preparing, completing, and maintaining medical records and reports.
- Performs routine clinical administrative operations including photocopying charts, updating prenatal logbook, follow-up on abnormal labs and referrals, calling patients when necessary, mailing letters to patients, and faxing referrals to central office.
- Aids nurses in checking emergency box and refrigerator temperatures.
- Aids nurses with ordering medications, vaccines and medical supplies as needed.
- Performs venipuncture as necessary.
- Provides health counseling to patients, including HIV counseling.
- Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy.
- Collaborates with the health care team to facilitate the highest quality of health services for patients.
- Complies with Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education And Experience Required
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A Current Medical Assistant Certification from a New York State Licensed School.
- A Current BLS Certification or the ability to obtain BLS certification/recertification within two (2) weeks of date of hire.
- A Minimum of two (2) years of medical assistant experience.

- Interest in the conviction of purpose and aim for all programs in the agency.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate.
