Responsibilities
- Checks in and checks out patients
- Schedules tests and procedures
- Verifies insurance coverage and authorizations
- Prepares charts, enters charges, completes paperwork, and maintains medical records
- Performs medical necessity checks, gathers and records health history, vital signs, and other data
- Responds to patient phone calls, documents requests, and communicates with clinical staff and providers
- Provides basic patient care, performs point-of-care skills, and administers medications
- Demonstrates service excellence, maintains patient privacy, and engages in patient and employee satisfaction initiatives
- Works efficiently, prioritizes tasks, improves workflow, and collaborates within the interdisciplinary team
- Assumes responsibility for professional development, completes required competencies, maintains certifications, and serves as a preceptor for new staff
- Adheres to infection control, safety, and confidentiality guidelines, and supports wellness through patient/family education
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area
- 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- All experience must be paid and in the same related field
- Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week
- Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted
Qualifications
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
