About the role
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, perform phlebotomy, and administer medications as directed.
- Collect data for patient assessment and discharge planning, under supervision.
- Process and submit laboratory specimens following policies.
- Communicate patient findings to Providers/Nurses and document accurately within the electronic medical record (EPIC).
- Perform front-office tasks such as appointment scheduling, visit prep, co-payment collection, and patient tracking.
- Perform department-specific clinical duties, including point-of-care testing and screenings.
- Handle routine administrative tasks like faxing, copying, and filing.
- Maintain examination rooms and develop positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Follow safety policies to ensure a secure environment for all.
Qualifications & Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic program.
Knowledge of medical terminology; experience in healthcare preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (EPIC preferred).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Experience in phlebotomy is a plus; no prior experience required.
