About the Role
This position supports the clinic network by performing critical duties and essential functions as a Medical Assistant. The role acts as a liaison between patients and providers, facilitating efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial intake screening, including verifying the reason for patient visits and obtaining vital signs per network policy.
- Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas, including setting up for procedures and treatments.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Maintain and update patient records, including medication, immunization, and health maintenance records.
- Schedule, coordinate, and monitor patient appointments and recalls.
- Apply principles of aseptic techniques and infection control, including standard precautions and disposal of biohazards.
- Perform venous and capillary invasive procedures for blood withdrawal, as well as intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections.
- Administer medications and immunizations as ordered by the provider and within scope of practice.
- Perform tympanograms, ear irrigations (with provider order), and waived laboratory tests.
- Provide approved patient education and instructions.
- Manage back-office duties, including multitasking, prioritizing, and organizing workflow for providers.
- Participate in daily huddles with providers to anticipate needs, orders, and procedures.
- Read, investigate, and forward patient messages to appropriate providers, and record communications in the EMR.
- Call pharmacies to submit prescriptions and refax through electronic systems.
- Facilitate care management calls and expedite written orders from providers.
- Fax or mail paperwork to pharmacies, medical centers, and patients, ensuring all documents are signed by the appropriate provider.
- Review and complete ancillary charges for office visits and perform "clean" billing submittals.
- Perform inventory of supplies and equipment, and routine maintenance of administrative and clinical equipment.
- Apply computer and electronic equipment techniques to support office operations.
Requirements
- Certified as a Medical Assistant through state-approved testing (Medical Assistant Certified).
- Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers.
- Good to excellent computer skills, including the ability to navigate multiple applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and multitasking demands.
- Neat, professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and cultural backgrounds.
- Strong customer service and patient care skills.
- Understanding of clinic structure, design, and workflow.
- Ability to comprehend and act within the limits of the Medical Assistant scope of practice under the direction of a healthcare practitioner.
Qualifications
- Perform within legal and ethical boundaries, ensuring accurate documentation of patient communication and clinical treatments.
- Comply with state, federal, and regulatory agency requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Assistant scope and role, including critical thinking and anticipation of patient needs.
- Ability to serve as a "communication liaison" between physicians and patients.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic communication tools.
- For OBGYN Clinic positions: Minimum two years of recent outpatient/medical office OBGYN medical assisting experience.

Pay
Salary range: $30.49 - $46.17 per hour, depending on experience.
