About the Role
The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled individual who works in a healthcare setting to support both non-clinical and clinical functions of the service area. This role operates within the Medical Assistant scope of practice and under the continuous supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD, NP, RN, LPN) during the performance of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks. Reports to department leadership.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe and effective delivery of uncomplicated clinical services and tasks within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, under the direction and continuous supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
- Provides appropriate clinical and non-clinical information to facilitate the visit process.
- Maintains sterility and cleanliness of the environment.
- Maintains supplies, equipment, and instruments.
- Supports and performs clerical functions as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current registration/certification as a Medical Assistant, higher-level clinical certification (LPN, RN, or higher), or military medical experience preferred.
- CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- Graduate of an approved accredited allied health program or clinical program.
- One to two years of experience in a related healthcare field preferred.
- Must provide a record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
Working Conditions
Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as excessive noise, dust, or temperature extremes. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to patient care activities can be expected.
