About the role

Gastro Health is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our team in Jupiter, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Work with providers to room office visit pts, which consists of greeting pts, taking vitals, entering history in the EMR and updating medication lists.
  • Keeping exam room clean and stocked with medical supplies.
  • Aiding providers with rectal exams and hemorrhoid banding procedures.
  • Performing testing such as Fibroscans, bone density and breath tests.
  • Prior authorizations for medication and infusion drugs.
  • Maintaining logs for expiring infusion medication drugs with each patient's insurance and renewing when needed.
  • Scheduling testing and procedures for patients after their office visits and from incoming PCP requests.
  • Spanish and Portuguese speaking is a plus, but not required.
  • Greet and room patients, ensuring appropriate patient flow.
  • Updating patient's medical chart with accurate and timely documentation.
  • Managing phone triage and taking appropriate action under the direction of the provider.
  • Demonstrating ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician's orders.
  • Providing patient education as well as personal patient care to provide comfort and well-being to acknowledge physiological and psychological needs.
  • Under direction from providers, processing refills for prescriptions following clinic protocol.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships in dealing with fellow clinic employees, managers and providers.
  • Taking direction and initiating actions that will allow cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Following safety procedures in compliance with OSHA and state health department guidelines.
  • Other administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant (AAMA certification preferred)
  • Medical terminology knowledge required
  • ClinicalWorks (eCW): 1 year (Preferred)

Spanish and Portuguese speaking is a plus, but not required.
