Medical Assistant - Gastroenterology - East
About the Role

As a Medical Assistant, you will assist providers in ambulatory health care settings, facilitate patient visits and procedures, perform routine laboratory tests, manage referrals, and contribute to quality outcomes for the practice population. You will also participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use, including cleaning and stocking supplies.
- Room patients and manage an efficient flow of the provider’s caseload.
- Obtain necessary vital signs, perform EKGs, and/or collect specimens.
- Document care using the EPIC EMR system.
- Perform Point of Care Testing based on the patient’s chief complaint and available protocols.
- Process referrals and medication refills.
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff.
Requirements
- Graduate or certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
- Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.
