Medical Assistant Gastroenterology

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visits.
• Record patient medical history, vital signs, and chief complaints accurately.
• Aid healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Administer medications as directed and ensure proper documentation.
• Provide education on medications, treatments, and follow-up care to patients.

Medical Record Management

• Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) accurately and confidentially.
• Prepare medical charts for patient visits and ensure completeness.

Clinical Support

• Contact patients with testing results under the direction of the provider.
• Obtain prior authorization of medications and procedures if needed.

Patient Communication

• Offer exceptional customer service and create a comfortable environment for patients.
• Answer patient questions, address concerns, and relay messages to healthcare providers.

Compliance and Safety

• Adhere to all healthcare regulations and privacy laws (HIPAA).
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Absorb and implement infection control measures.
• Dispose of biohazardous waste properly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant or EMT (preferred).
• One year of experience with EMR systems (preferred).
• Two years of experience demonstrating compassionate and dedicated patient care (preferred).
• A Certified Medical Assistant certification (preferred).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

Pay Range

$22-$25 per hour; commensurate with experience

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
