Medical Assistant - Gastro St. Joseph's North

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance to providers during patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Collects and reviews patient histories and performs routine laboratory procedures.
• Prepares specimens for laboratory testing and communicates test results to providers and patients.
• Ensures patient education materials are available and updated.
• Maintains medical equipment and orders necessary clinical supplies.
• Enters and updates patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.
• Performs other tasks as directed.

Requirements

• Approved Medical Assistant Certification within six months of employment or proof of active license/certification.
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification.
• Paramedic certification.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of medical assistant experience preferred.

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in using EMR systems.
