About the role

Under general supervision, you will support the primary care provider and team by delivering patient care, assisting with procedures, managing patient follow-up, and maintaining efficient patient flow. You will also interact with internal departments, businesses, insurance companies, and billing services.

Responsibilities

• Assists in urgent and emergent medical situations and operates emergency equipment.
• Ensures patient follow-up processes, including referrals, lab work, and obtaining patient education materials.
• Manages patient flow to minimize wait times and optimize room utilization.
• Cleans, prepares, and stocks patient exam areas and workstations.
• Maintains ambulatory equipment, instruments, and supplies; cleans and sterilizes equipment; and manages medical supply inventory.
• Documents patient care information in the medical record per policies and procedures.
• Obtains vital signs, identifies the reason for the visit, and prepares patients for examination.
• Performs basic testing procedures (e.g., EKG, urine dipstick, pregnancy tests) and administers injections as ordered by the physician.
• Prepares and supports patients and assists providers with medical procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Note: Pre-Admissions Testing MAs do not perform the italicized duties listed above.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through a nationally recognized association (required within 60 days of hire, except for those hired before 12/31/19).
• BLS Certification.
