About the role

This position is responsible for administrative and clinical duties delegated by the medical and nursing staff. The Medical Assistant assists physicians with patient care and performs routine clinical and administrative duties as needed to meet the needs of the practice. Duties vary by office based on size and specialty.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with patient care
• Perform routine clinical and administrative duties to support the practice
• Maintain medical records and record test results
• Take vital signs and assist in a variety of treatments and medications as directed
• Operate medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
• Ensure a safe work environment by understanding safety hazards and precautions
• Use computer systems and applications for healthcare administration
• Gather, analyze, and interpret information as needed
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats
• Exercise initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making
• Apply policies and principles to solve everyday problems and address a variety of situations
• Work effectively with patients, staff, and the public
• Identify problems and recommend solutions
• Establish priorities and coordinate work activities

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of clinical experience in a medical office
• Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in patient care
• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions
• Skill in taking vital signs
• Skill in maintaining medical records and recording test results
• Knowledge of computer systems and applications
• Knowledge of healthcare administration principles
• Skill in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information
• Skill in written and verbal communication
• Ability to exercise initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making
• Ability to apply policies and principles to solve everyday problems and deal with a variety of situations
• Ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and the public
• Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
• Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities

Education

• High School Graduate or equivalent, or a minimum of 5 years full-time experience in a related healthcare setting
• Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants

License/Certification

• Current CPR Certification
• CCMA

Pay

The rate of pay for this position will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate is $18.50 per hour. This rate does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
