About the role
The Medical Assistant - Front/Back Swing, under the supervision of the Clinical Lead and Practice Leader, assists in delivering healthcare and patient care management. This role supports providers within scope of practice to ensure quality patient care, including gathering patient information, assessing requests, obtaining and monitoring vitals, assisting with procedures, and reprocessing instruments.
Responsibilities
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, document reason for visit, symptoms, frequency, and severity.
- Provide courteous and compassionate care; document all required information in the electronic medical record (Allscripts Experience preferred), including Meaningful Use data, Pay for Performance data, and ACO-related information.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and other patient care services as ordered by the medical provider.
- Assist during medical procedures.
- Manage communication and correspondence, including lab results, prescription management, and referrals using electronic medical records and task lists.
- Recognize urgent medical needs and triage care appropriately.
- Provide patients with accurate information and address questions or concerns.
- Maintain patient records and confidentiality.
- Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
- Maintain patient areas and supplies: disinfect exam rooms between patients and at the end of the day, assist with clinic upkeep, and manage supply ordering/inventory.
- Answer telephones in a cheerful manner, schedule appointments, and take messages using electronic medical records.
- Greet and check in patients, address requests and inquiries, and resolve concerns.
- Process insurance issues (e.g., verifications and authorizations) and assist patients in understanding insurance plans.
- Return calls as necessary and perform various assigned administrative tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program (e.g., NHA, AMCA).
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
- At least one year of related medical assisting experience in a physician’s office or clinical setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Reprocessing/procedural experience is highly preferred.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $28.00 - $31.21 - $36.41 per hour, compliant with applicable law. Individual pay is determined by skills, experience, qualifications, and internal/market equity. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with scheduled weekly hours of 40, working 8-hour day shifts.
